For Moin Khan, changing the way people thought about his native Pakistan was important.

“I want to educate people in the West, not just Americans, about the country I love,” said the 28-year-old Pakistani man who lived in the United States for six years. “I want to show the Pakistan I know.”

That’s why Khan and his group A Different Agenda, a Pakistan-based non-profit, organized a 14-day, 2,000 mile trip in May 2014 for eight Americans and one Malaysian to explore Pakistan on motorcycles. All the while, the participants immersed themselves into a new culture, enjoying the food, landscape, music and hospitality of the Pakistani people.

The trip is documented in the film “Rediscovering Pakistan — The Untold Tale,” which will be screened at the Art Theatre this weekend.

The film shows the group struggling with challenges like mudslides, heat, cold and nasty spills, but also them learning about the Pakistani culture, which Khan said the media doesn’t even show “even one-tenth of what Pakistan really is.”

“Rediscovering Pakistan — The Untold Tale” is being screened throughout the United States and Canada. It will be shown at the Art Theatre, located at 2025 East 4th Street, on Saturday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. A $10 donation is suggested at the door, and proceeds will go toward A Different Agenda and AJK Girls School in Pakistan.
