The Arts Council for Long Beach has announced its call for nominations for their 2015 Arts Awards, to be bestowed upon those in recognition of excellence and community contribution. Long Beach community members are invited to submit the names of those they believe are deserving by filling out a nomination form.
In 2013, the prestigious James H. Ackerman award was given to the very deserving Justin Hectus and Rand Foster who, with a talented team, created the annual Summer and Music concert series. Submissions will be reviewed by a diverse panel who will choose the recipients for the categories listed below.
James H. Ackerman Arts Philanthropist
The James H. Ackerman Arts Philanthropist award honors a person (for example, a donor or advocate) who exemplifies the spirit of giving through their extraordinary support of the arts in Long Beach.
Arts Volunteer
The Arts Volunteer award honors a person who exemplifies generosity through volunteerism in the creative sector.
Arts Educator
The Arts Educator award honors a person who has made a meaningful impact on the arts education of students, young adults or others in the city.
Arts Innovator
The Arts Innovator award honors a person, organization or group that brings innovative change to Long Beach through the creative sector.
Economic Development Arts Trailblazer
The Economic Development Arts Trailblazer award honors a person, organization or group that contributes to the economic development of Long Beach through the creative sector.
Nominations are due by Thursday, September 10. The forms can be found on the arts council’s website here. You can fill out the form electronically and submit via email to info@artslb.org. Forms can also be mailed or hand-delivered to Arts Council for Long Beach, 350 Elm Avenue.
