Applications are being accepted for the Arts Counicl of Long Beach’s A LOT 2014 program, inviting both artists and curators to apply for their chance to be involved in the initiative which turns two empty lots in Long Beach into havens for art.
Artists—particularly those capable of creating performance-based art—are invited to propose their visions for two spaces: the empty lot on the north side of the former Acres of Books at Long Beach and 3rd Street and the empty site near Greener Goods Farmers Market at Artesia and Atlantic Avenue.
New to this year’s program is the Curatorial Partner, a position that the Arts Council hopes will bring on organizational groups which will help select and curate events which will activate the spots for 2 to five hours of art experienced.
Applications and more information can be found here. All applications are due April 21 at 5PM, with applicants being informed of the status of their proposal May 19. For those interested in a technical assistance workshop, the Art Council will be offering one on April 1.
