Bixby Knolls is celebrating the arrival of August with a First Fridays event to be held on the evening of August 5th, 2011. Atlantic Avenue will experience an infusion of music, energy, and art as artists and local businesses come together to showcase the talented people in our community.

Patrons can expect to find mobile art stations, medieval knights and artisans, improv comedy, classic cars, karaoke, photography, DJs, face painting, and antiques, among other things at the event.

Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” at the Dana Branch Library begins at 5:30pm and will feature knight-themed books. Signal Hill Mayor Larry Forester is the special guest reader.
Bella Cosa will have all the information about First Fridays, including maps, business info, and restaurant recommendations from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins across the district. Nino’s Italian Restaurant will host its usual fun mix of music and late night dining, while 562CityLife presents “Overtime at The Factory,” with music, food, and cigar lounge. EJ Malloy’s offers late night hospitality and the LB Petroleum Club hosts a late night pool party.
