Expect to hear live musical acts this Saturday as organizers of the 1st Saturdays Music at Bixby Park series hold their second annual fundraiser at the 4th Street Vine wine and beer bar.

“They [4th Street Vine] have played a tremendous role in showcasing local music to the greater public and were the natural fit to host our fundraiser,” event organizer Eric Gray said on the group’s Facebook page.

The fundraiser, scheduled to begin at 3PM, will include local musicians, wine and beer tastings, appetizers and raffle prizes from Romeo Chocolates, Bo-beau kitchen + roof tap, Groundwork Fitness and JetBlue Airways.

All proceeds will benefit infrastructure improvements at Bixby Park and supply funds to support local bands.

“We want everyone to be able to benefit from these events in the park over the summertime,” said fundraiser organizer Melissa Escalante. 

The monthly series — which is run by Escalante and Gray, with support from the Friends of Bixby Park — began last summer to highlight local musical talent, theater, and other performance groups at the Bixby Park band shell, according to the group’s Facebook page.

The series typically starts in June and continues every first Saturday of the month until September, each year.
