When it comes to local produce, fresh herbs and even eggs, several Long Beach restaurants and their chefs look to Farm Lot 59 to provide ingredients that can make a menu or drink item that much tastier, healthier and also sustainable.

Taste WBK, owned by Erin O’Hagan and Laurie Semon, who also own Olives Gourmet Grocer next door, will host a “moveable feast” and “farm raiser” on Sunday, October 23 from 2:00PM to 7:00PM to support the nonprofit urban farm, the restaurant announced earlier this month.

“I love our farm and feel extremely fortunate that I get to do it in Long Beach,” said Sasha Kanno, Farm Lot 59 founder, in a statement. “The fact that Erin and Laurie want to collaborate and help us in the process is amazing. I’m very excited to welcome this intimate group as they embark on a wonderful afternoon of food, wine and friendship.”

The moveable feast will begin at The Wine Country in Signal Hill where guests will park their cars, whet their appetites with drinks and appetizers then board the air-conditioned shuttle to Farm Lot 59. Guests will be greeted by Kanno, who will take them foraging through the farm, before the group sits for a field-to-fork first course of cider, soup and salad.

Guests will then be transported to Taste WBK, where Chef Brad Neumann will offer a menu made with ingredients grown at the farm, while sommelier Alicia Ajolo will select a variety of wines selected to complement the meal. Guests will be shuttled back to their cars at The Wine Country at 7:00PM.

“It would be so easy for us to get our produce from the commercial restaurant suppliers,” stated, Erin O’Hagan, Taste WBK co-owner. “But we are huge proponents of grow local, eat local. As business owners ourselves, we really want to support and foster relationships with other small businesses like Farm Lot 59. We truly believe in what Farmer Sasha is doing, and she is really where our chef sources as much produce as possible.”

Tickets, which are limited to 40 people, are $125 per person and include all food, beverage and transportation to participating culinary destinations. All proceeds will benefit Farm Lot 59. Tickets can be purchased via the Farmlot 59 website here or by calling 562.230.7207.
